Finding Time

Ah, Monday. The day most everyone dreads. And this Monday in particular holds something quite special for me; my second week of my senior year of high school. I got through the first week just fine, so I’m not too worried. But what about my writing? All my fantasy stories waiting to bloom? Do I neglect them, replacing them with school? Not at all. It’s usually easy for me to find time to write, even during the school year, partially because I’m homeschooled. I can make my own schedule, and put writing as one of the most important items. Do I always write even if I have the time? Nope, I’m a terrible procrastinator. But I’m working on it, and I think I might be getting better. I don’t actually know.

It can still be difficult, though, finding time. Especially when the school assignments get progressively harder and harder, which they usually do. Finding time to write, whether you’re homeschooled or not, comes down to making your own time. Wake up earlier, go to bed later, omit something that doesn’t absolutely need to get done. The reality is, if you want to become a great author, maybe get your work published one day, you have to make your own time. Time is tricky, and loves to push us around. So take control, and don’t wait for time to play in your favor, because it rarely does. It will take time (ironic, right?) to get into this habit, but keep working on it. It will come to you. Never give up!
